As construction manager, and while working under a negotiated contract, Moss has worked closely with this grocery chain giant on eight projects in South Florida over the past four years exceeding $64.5 million. As with most Publix Supermarkets, this project was built in a densely populated urban community between existing retail spaces. In addition to the new construction, the scope of the project also included restoring and building new canopies for the adjacent retail spaces, new site drainage, site lighting, landscaping, and asphalt pavement.
This project presented a phasing challenge as work was performed while the existing plaza was fully operational. The complete site improvements package had to be phased to accommodate the tenant’s needs to remain open for business. Moss was able to address many issues during the preconstruction planning phase to ensure all budgets, schedules and logistical issues where addressed prior to commencing work in the field, resulting in the job completing on time, despite these challenges.
