This project involves the renovation of an existing building (formerly a Scotty's
Hardware store) into new office spaces for use by the Growth
Management Department for Marion County. This will allow for the
expansion and consolidation of the Planning, Zoning, and Building
Departments for Marion County, which are currently housed in overcrowded,
outmoded facilities at an older County Government complex.
Current plans call for the renovation and build-out of roughly 60,000
square feet of the building into offices, meeting spaces, and public reception
areas. This will allow for the current staff to relocate into a modern
facility (relieving the cramped conditions they currently face) and allow
space to accommodate the substantial expansion of these departments
which will be required to cope with the continuing explosive growth in the
Marion County area.
Construction will entail a re-work of the site parking areas, stripping the
existing exterior façades from the building, demolition and build-out of the
former hardware store spaces, replacement of the existing mechanical
system with a new chilled water system, and upgrades to the existing
electrical, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
