The Performing and Visual Arts Center is a three story, 68,000 SF wing angling
off the University Center. The new center houses a full production
Performance Theatre, a black box theatre, along with a scene
shop, and a costume shop. The second floor will house liberal arts studios for
photography, ceramics, printing, sculpture, painting, and design. The third floor
includes offices, instrument and choral rehearsal studios, percussion
and keyboard labs, as well as eight separate sound conditioned practice studios.
Construction of the building required extensive rerouting of utilities
servicing the adjacent existing student center.
This project was constructed by the Moss/Miller Joint Venture, and is the third
consecutive building performed by this team.
