Moss Promotes Brian Trusky to Vice President/Loss Prevention
Fort Lauderdale, Florida, August 1, 2008
Moss & Associates today announced that Brian Trusky has been promoted to vice president–loss prevention, responsible for heading the company’s safety, claim and environmental initiatives. He is a 15-year construction industry veteran who has focused on safety issues for the past decade.
“Brian has played a key role in helping to develop proactive, life-saving safety initiatives that reflect our company’s core values,” said Bob Moss, president and CEO of Moss & Associates.
Moss’ companywide safety program has been recognized on national and statewide levels, and the firm has pioneered the use of data mining applications to identify potential causes of jobsite accidents and prevent their occurrence.
In his new role with the company, Trusky ensures compliance with federal, state and local health and safety regulations, manages insurance programs and workers compensation issues, and coordinates environmental permitting with local, state and federal agencies. He also is responsible for training and education in construction safety, health, stormwater and environmental permitting.
Trusky joined Moss & Associates in 2004 as safety director. Through his efforts, the company has received six Sunshine State Safety Awards from the University of South Florida's Safety Consultation Program, as well as Federal Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) recognition through its Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program (SHARP), in 2006-07 and 2007-08. In addition, Moss is one of just seven contractors nationwide who in 2008 have been honored with the Gold Safety Award by Liberty Mutual Insurance Group, for outstanding project safety records. Liberty Mutual presents Gold Safety Awards to less than 1 percent of its contracting customers, and since early 2007, Moss & Associates has received five of the prestigious awards.
Earlier in his career, Trusky served as safety director for another large South Florida construction company, overseeing safety and loss prevention for more than $600 million worth of projects throughout the United States and the Caribbean. He earned a master’s degree in industrial and labor relations and a bachelor’s degree in safety sciences from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. He is certified in first aid, CPR and various aspects of construction safety, and is a certified trainer of stormwater management inspectors.
Moss & Associates is a privately held construction company that is ranked among the nation’s top 100 building contractors and second largest in South Florida, with annual revenues exceeding $649 million in fiscal year 2007. Through its headquarters in Fort Lauderdale, and regional offices in Miami and Ocala, the firm provides design-build, general construction, construction management and preconstruction consulting services for projects ranging in both size and complexity being developed throughout the United States, Bahamas and Caribbean.
The firm’s financial stability, market reputation and long-term executive relationships have provided opportunities to construct some of the area’s most unique and logistically challenging projects – from major landmark mixed-use urban developments and high-rise structures to luxury hotels, commercial office buildings, schools, retail establishments, health care and life sciences facilities, government buildings, and correctional facilities, among others.
