Moss & Associates Constructing $38 Million Marion County Judicial Center Expansion

Ocala, Florida, March 27, 2008

Moss & Associates, one of Florida’s largest construction management companies, has launched a $38 million expansion of the Marion County Judicial Center in Ocala for the Marion County Board of Commissioners.

Designed to accommodate the judicial requirements of the fast-growing Ocala area, the expansion project is a five-story, 150,000-square-foot structure that will house the State Attorney’s Office and new courts and related services, according to Ted Adams, executive vice president with Moss & Associates.

Construction is underway at 110 NW 1st Avenue in downtown Ocala, with completion expected in late 2009.  Designed by Architecture Studio, Inc. of Ocala and global design firm HOK, the expansion building will connect on all five levels to the existing judicial center, which was built in 1989.

Adams said Moss & Associates is drawing upon its team’s expertise in building complex governmental and commercial projects in downtown locations to ensure that the existing facility and adjacent businesses remain fully operational throughout construction, with public safety being the top priority.

Adams said the Judicial Center is the largest capital project to date for Marion County, which in 2005 engaged Moss to manage the county’s long-term construction program.

Under that contract, Moss manages new construction and renovation of county facilities, public parks, ball fields and recreation complexes, boating and outdoor activity centers and agricultural facilities.

Adams joined Moss & Associates in 2004 with over 25 years of construction management experience, and launched the company’s Ocala-based North Florida Division. He leads a team of 42 associates, who handle a growing portfolio of public and private sector work.

With $650 million in revenues in 2007, Moss & Associates provides construction management and design/build services throughout the United States, the Bahamas and the Caribbean, specializing in negotiated projects.  The firm has offices in Ocala, Fort Lauderdale and Miami, and an active portfolio of 50 projects, ranging from residential towers and mixed-use developments to university student centers and state-of-the-art corrections facilities.  For information please visit www.mosscm.com.
