Bronze Award: Moss & Associates For “Best Place To Work”
Fort Lauderdale, Florida, February 25, 2008

Moss & Associates has been awarded the Bronze medal by the South Florida Business Journal’s 2008 Best Places to Work. The 2008 Best Places to Work Awards recognizes companies that go above and beyond for their staff.
Moss & Associates President Bob Moss loves to brag that he and his team have more than 300 combined years of industry experience. But, more than a fun fact to rattle off, it’s been a major asset that has helped the Fort Lauderdale-based construction management firm remain competitive in a soggy real estate market.
Moss’ company has enjoyed an impressive 100 percent retention rate among its key full-time staff members, where the joke is most employees make Moss & Associates their only job.
Incentives such as profit sharing, 401(k) plans and fully-covered health care might keep workers on board as much as events like an annual holiday party, picnics and happy hours. But Moss said a bonus is the open line of communication managers and top-level executives keep with their staff, and an emphasis on team building.
“If you turn the organizational chart upside down, you would see that we all work for the people executing the projects,” he said. “Our job is to help our employees be successful at the project level.”
Under his leadership, Moss & Associates has become the second-largest construction services company in South Florida, with $611.6 million in revenue in 2006. The company was recently awarded a $35 million construction management contract for Soho Beach House in Miami Beach.
Moss has been a supporter of Give Kids the World for more than 20 years. Today, the village features 96 villas, a family restaurant, castle play area, ice cream palace, movie theater, interactive water park, fishing pond and a chapel. But the people are one of Moss’ biggest assets.
“The real value is the brainpower of the management of the company to be able to satisfy our clients,” he said. “I don't think we can do too much to make our people feel glad they work for our company.”
