Moss & Associates Announces $32 Million Contract For Soho Beach House, Miami Beach
Fort Lauderdale, Florida, October 2, 2007
Moss & Associates today announced it has been awarded a $35 million construction management contract for Soho Beach House, Miami Beach.
Ryder Properties LLC has engaged Moss for the 83,000-square-foot luxury beachfront hotel/condo development. Scheduled to start construction this month, Soho Beach House is the second U.S. project by hotelier Nick Jones, creator of Soho House in New York City, Soho House in London and Babington House in Somerset, England.
According to Moss Executive Vice President Ron Dunn, the project will renovate and upgrade the historic Sovereign Hotel and construct a 15-story luxury condominium tower at the high-profile site. Located at 4385 Collins Avenue, the property is adjacent to the landmark Fontainebleau.
Architect Allan T. Shulman’s design layers old and new, creating a total of 67 new units — 44 hotel rooms for Soho House and 23 condos — in the 1940s-era Art Deco hotel and the new luxury tower.
This is the second major upscale restoration/new construction project Moss & Associates is launching in Miami Beach. The Fort Lauderdale-based construction management company is scheduled to begin work in December on The Ritz-Carlton Club and Residences, South Beach, a joint venture of Lionstone Development LLC and Fortune International that incorporates the historic Seville Beach Hotel and new residential towers.
Among Moss & Associates’ current South Florida projects are the University of Miami Interdisciplinary Wet Lab Research Facility and the Colonnade Phases 1 and 2, for Lennar Corporation in Miami. The firm has also completed several projects at Nova Southeastern University, in a joint venture with Miller Construction Company. Moss & Associates expects to put in place $360 million in projects in Miami-Dade County this year, Dunn said – ranging from The Mint and Ivy high-rise condominiums in Downtown Miami to the 1.45-million-square-foot Downtown Dadeland project in Kendall.
One of the nation’s fastest-growing construction companies, Moss provides construction management and design/build services throughout the United States, the Bahamas and the Caribbean. Known for delivering complex, landmark projects for the private and public sectors, the firm had 2006 revenues of $612 million. Moss & Associates is based in Fort Lauderdale with regional offices in Miami and Ocala. For more information, visit www.mosscm.com.
