US Citizenship & Immigration Services Hialeah Office Center

Location: Hialeah, Florida
Client: South Florida Federal Partners
Architect: JMWA Architects

Moss completed this 38,500 SF Hurricane resistant, single-story building, which includes a 25-foot etched-in-glass image of the Statue of Liberty adorning the left front window; an entry rotunda conceptually linked to the prominence of the US Capitol rotunda and grand entry doors. The on-site parking deck accommodates visitor parking in close proximity to the entry plaza in capacity of 356 vehicles.

This facility was completed as a LEED Silver Certified building and is resistant to a Category 5 hurricane. Energy-saving features include extensive perimeter windows with overhanging louvers and sunshade panels to prevent excessive solar gain. Designed to provide a secure environment for employees and visitors while maintaining an inviting image, security has been integrated into the site design. Security setbacks are maintained with a combination of seat wall, concrete planters and other landscape elements to provide a secure facility yet provide an open and welcoming environment for the public.
