US Citizenship & Immigration Services Broward County Office Center
Location: Oakland Park, Florida
Client: South Florida Federal Partners
Architect: JMWA Architects
Designed to create a “welcoming gateway”, this facility houses the information and adjudication offices and the USCIS’s application support center. As construction manager, Moss completed this single-story building, which includes a one-and-a-half story lobby and can accommodate 200 visitors. The project features a three level parking structure capable of accommodating 147 vehicles.
This facility was completed as a LEED Silver Certified building and is resistant to a Category 5 hurricane. Energy-saving features include perimeter windows with overhanging louvers and sunshade panels to prevent excessive solar gain. Designed to provide a secure environment for employees and visitors while maintaining an inviting image, security has been integrated into the site design. Security setbacks are maintained with a combination of seat wall, concrete planters and other landscape elements to provide a secure facility yet provide an open and welcoming environment for the public.
