Peters Elementary School Modernization
Location: Plantation, Florida
Client: School Board of Broward County
Architect: Tercilla Courtemanche Architects, Inc.
This modernized elementary school campus features 73,218 SF of added and renovated space including a new 18,000 SF multi-purpose building and various site improvements which consisted of upgraded electrical service and site utilities, a fire access loop, retention pond, covered walkways, parking lots and (2) new 140-ton chillers.
Early collaboration with Equipment Manufacturers and Subcontractors permitted the timely release of long lead items associated to the replacement of the existing chiller and HVAC equipment, which resulted in an ahead of schedule installation. Proactive planning and re-sequencing of field activities also reduced the construction schedule by 9 months.
Despite the challenge of working on an occupied school campus, and around a densely populated residential community, Moss constructed this phased expansion safely and with minimal disruption. The project represents one of 11 contracts that Moss is constructing with the School Board of Broward County.
